Family, Friends and Relationships
A SEVEN WEEK COURSE FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY AND/OR AUSTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER TO DEVELOP THE SKILLS NEEDED TO BUILD AND MAINTAIN HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS.
Family, Friends and Relationships is a program specifically tailored to meet the needs of people living with an intellectual disability and/or autism spectrum disorder. These individuals often experience greater complexity in negotiating relationships and encounter increased social and sexual vulnerability. They have the right and need to safely access social opportunities and meaningful relationships.
Family, Friends and Relationships is designed to help them develop their skills in forming and maintaining healthy, respectful relationships.
The program focuses on:
- Applying the concept of consent
- Understanding the steps to making friends and forming healthy, respectful relationships
- Discussing appropriate behaviours for private and public places
- Identifying private and public body parts
- Developing and promoting cyber-safety
- Protective behaviours to prevent abuse and stay healthy
COURSE REGISTRATION DETAILS
- Sessions: 7 x 2 hour group sessions plus 1 individual counselling session prior to group work commencing.

- Cost:
• NDIS $1600.00
• NON-NDIS $1760 (GST included)
• Limited scholarships available - NDIS Categories applicable: Increased Social and Community Participation (only)
